In the Bapere sector of Lubero territory (North Kivu), over 36,000 war-displaced people have been living without aid from the Congolese government and humanitarian organizations. For more than a year, this has been the situation. In a telephone interview with 7SUR7.CD on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the head of the aforementioned sector broke the news. This official stated that these war-displaced people were fleeing the horrors perpetrated by the rebels of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) and their allies.
We are one of over 36,000 people who have been displaced by the war today. They are imprisoned in Byambwe, Kambau, Njiapanda, and Manguredjipa. More than a year has passed without any help. The head of the Bapere sector, Macaire Sivikunulwa, stated, “We have notified all of the NGO coordinators.”
During the process, this authority urged these humanitarian organizations to take into account the individuals who are living in host families and are facing challenges. “We demand that these aid workers continue their work in Bapere. The presence of security forces here ensures their safety.
This traditional chief reassured them that even the roads are reachable as far as Manguredjipa-Kambau. Independent sources claim that the majority of these displaced people were from areas that had recently been attacked by ADF rebels, specifically the Bapere sector and the Baswagha and Batangi chiefdoms.
For more than a year, the poor have not received aid, despite requests from the military and local leaders.
