According to sector chief Bapere, who spoke to the 7SUR7.CD news reporter in the region, many victims died while trying to cross the Lubero River following the ADF rebels who besieged mining sites in Angola 1 and 2.
“The ADF, in their flight, are causing harm to civilians. Last weekend, they attacked mining sites in Angola 1 and 2 in the Bapukara grouping in the depths of the Lubero River, which separates the Batangi chiefdom and the Bapere sector. We are told of several civilians killed by the enemy. Some victims reportedly drowned while trying to cross the Lubero River following the arrival of the attackers. For the moment, it is difficult to provide an exact death toll because the area is not covered by cellular connection, but I confirm the massacres of several people by the ADF there,” declared Macaire Sivikunulwa, Bapere sector chief.
However, according to the same source, military offensives were launched in this town in order to enable the recovery of the bodies of the victims.
Shortly before this massacre, civil society sources revealed, the enemy had just executed three civilians in Magelegele.
Meanwhile, independent sources report that psychosis is gaining ground in Kasugho, Yama, villages located near the scene of the tragedy.
As a result, many families are starting to move towards supposedly safe areas.
