
Several trucks were ambushed by suspected CODECO militiamen on the Pitso-Pimbo section of National Road 27 in Djugu territory (Ituri) on Sunday evening, June 8. The FARDC intervened immediately and dislodged the armed men without causing any casualties, according to local sources. However, the assailants managed to steal some of the passengers’ belongings. MONUSCO peacekeepers also intensified patrols in the area to protect civilians, the UN mission reported. Another attack by suspected CODECO militiamen brought mourning to the town of Tsotso, located about 40 kilometers north of Bunia, in Djugu territory. The attack, launched on Saturday, June 7, left four dead and three injured, according to local civil society.
